Iran: Communism or Barbarism

Like a broken record, the USA is bombing a country due to humanitarian concerns or supposed “Weapons Of Mass Destruction.” Where have we all heard this before? US and Israeli bombings are confirmed to have killed around 50 children at an elementary school, some protestors and over 500 so far. The US is calling for regime change in Iran due to the latter's bloody repression but regime change only shifts which group of reactionary vultures are gunning down workers. The USA claims people in Iran need democracy. A democracy that kidnaps workers off of the streets while bombing and starving workers across the world. It's clear for workers in the US that we have no interest in a war with Iran; when we lack healthcare, wages are shrinking and inflation is still soaring.

This current war creates an impasse which can only lead to an Imperialist world war. The US and Israeli attacks on Iran represents another confrontation between consolidating imperialist blocs. On one side there is the USA, NATO and Israel, on the other there's China, Russia and Iran. The pressures of capitalism's deep crisis of profitability has pushed every state towards war in order to control more territory and profits at the cost of massacring workers everywhere. The capitalist system is pushed towards either constant stagnation or war and the latter becomes preferable for the capitalist class as seen in the past for WW1 and WW2.

Every state’s interest is that of capital and profits, it doesn't matter the veneer it gives itself. This is the basis of today's crises. Every worker has first hand experience with it when your pay stagnates and decreases, when your workload gets sped up, when your medicaid is cut, foods and essentials become unaffordable, or when you are evicted. The capitalist system demands constant accumulation which leads the entire system towards war. There is no escape from this fate by hoping that good capitalists or good countries win or trying to force any capitalist government to go against its reason to exist. Workers in the USA have seen this with our own ruling class which is united whether they are Democratic or Republicans on increasing policing, ICE’s terror and war. In Iran the working class has a long history of militancy and forming shuras (councils) during strikes. Striking and protesting workers are facing down the reactionary Ayatollahs Basij and Pasadaran but also the blood thirsty regional separatists, Islamist gangs, and monarchists which most in Iran are too young to remember the SAVAK. The working class can’t get fooled again; the situation is far more grave today than in 2003. There is nothing in this world that can stop this war or the march towards another world war except ourselves, the working class. We have no interest in this bloody game of the imperialists, the capitalist class. We don’t care about their profits or their “nations.” We create it all and get nothing from it.

The working class will have to struggle before this runaway train runs out of tracks. It will need to fight the capitalists in the workplace and outside of it, waging a political and economic war. It will have to fight using its own strength, never relegating the struggle to the unions or government. And pointing the way forward in this fight will have to be a political party aimed at one objective alone: revolution. When the working class seizes power and transforms society, we will know peace. This is why the ICT will always cry out: No War But The Class War.
