Obama's leftist shill attacks the "ultra-lefts"

Carl Davidson, a shill for Obama and the Democratic Party political machine is a classic new left fossil. An ex-maoist former Students for a Democratic Society member who is on the national council for United for Peace and Justice and a leader of the "Progressive Democrat Alliance" is openly calling for the destruction of everything to the left of the Democratic Party. I am posting this here just to make people aware of just how hostile the DP and the Obama crowd are to anyone to the left of themselves. It is their common aim to isolate, crush and defeat everyone they consider an "ultra-left". The lefts will find that the small organizational gains they've made under the Bush years will now be under attack from an implacably hostile enemy in the form of the Obama administration. Davidson is about as leftist as the Obama campaign gets. They love using the old Stalinist phrase "ultra-left" as a part of their standard political vocabulary. Davidson promotes "market socialism" of China as the "Socialism for the 21st Century", so he is still semi-Maoist more or less. I think these "progressives" are going to spearhead attacks on "ultra-leftists" to destroy their organizations and get people to stop listening to them. His allies are groups like so-called "Freedom Roast Socialist Organization" and the CPUSA and the Committees for Correspondence--the only three organizations of the old/new left that really supported Obama. These leftists like nothing better than to infiltrate and kill off organizations smaller and to the left of themselves. The very fact that someone might still want to overthrow capitalism makes them very angry, far more angry than a Nazi or a Republican would get if you told them you were a Communist. I am posting this excerpt of his own words to give people an insight into the mind of a leftist DP shill.

We have to break decisively with this ultra-left, semi-anarchist perspective. While the hard core of this trend is small, it reach is wider than some might think. It's not a matter of purges; it's a matter of emancipating the minds of many on the radical left from old dogma. There's no way forward under these new conditions if we don't. We have to break with it not only in our own ranks, the groups working with 'Progressives for Obama', where it's not that influential, but across all the mass democratic organizations of the wider social movements as well. We have to spotlight it, stand up to it, isolate it and defeat it. It's not that we are demanding a split. The split has already taken place over the past two years, in real life and in actual battles. Many of us, for instance, stood up to the rightwing media's racist attacks on Obama, his family and his movement; others from this corner of the left added fuel to the fascists' fires and fanned the flames. We are sharply divided. We are as far apart in practice as we can be. What we have to do is acknowledge it, sum up its lessons, and warn others of its dangers, and try to unite all who can be united on a new path forward.

"Shill"

Sorry, I meant to ask before but have just come to this again. For those on this side of the Atlantic what is a shill?

what's in a shill?

A shill, is the man who stands up at a rigged game with a bunch of money in his hand saying that he's just won big and that everyone else should come play the shell game too. The "mark" or the "sucker" is the guy who gets robbed, the "shill" is the man who helps work the crowd for the criminal who sits down on the sidewalk with three cards in his hand and a fourth card in his palm just takes people's money by playing on people's psychology and desire to win money. The shell game or "three card monte" has always worked more or less like that.

...anyway

Yon Carl Davidson, ex-Maoist for Obama is calling for the purging and destruction of all leftists who have criticized Obama. He's basically calling for an attack on "ultralefts", by the "progressives".
