The Role of Workers' Councils in Socialist Revolution
This is the topic of a debate between the Midlands Discussion Forum and theSPGB being held at 2pm on Saturday 15th February at The Anchor Inn, 308 Bradford Street Digbeth Birmingham B5 6ET. Its about a 10-15 minute walk away from New Street Station (if you can find the right way out anyway!!)
The subjects likely to come under discussion should include, parliament, class struggle on economic and political terrain, class consciousness, the bolsheviks as well as workers councils of course.

The Russian Revolution remains a landmark event in history. For the bourgeois historians, the October Revolution is thought to be a tragedy that set back the achievements of the “democratic” February Revolution, and allowed the Bolsheviks to wreak havoc on their citizens and the world. For the Stalinists, the events of 1917 paved the way for the birth of the USSR, which they point to as a prototypical example of “socialism in one country”. In reality, the February and October Revolutions were both part of the same proletarian revolution.
