Home ›Italy: Let's Strike to the Bitter End! (General Strike of All Sectors Against Rising Costs of Living and Wars)
Flyer distributed by Battaglia Comunista during the 30 October strikes in Italy.
We, militants of Battaglia Comunista, support the strike called for 30 October.
This is the situation we find ourselves in: rising costs of living, ever lower wages and growing inflation that increasingly erodes the purchasing power of salaried workers.
And the best part—so to speak—is that they trot out those figures almost with satisfaction, taking us for fools!
Wars and climate change are, increasingly, today’s dramatic hallmark; but it is the future that this capitalist, putrescent and decadent society has in store for us!
A society that increasingly strips the proletariat to the bone with ever more intensive workloads and working conditions.
Certainly, student-style street protest actions — though understandable — are not enough; that social milieu is by its nature heterogeneous and cross-class.
On Friday, 30 October, the rank-and-file union USB has called a general strike: it’s the same old story!
Yet another strike called with ample advance notice, going it alone compared with the rest of the archipelago of rank-and-file unions, which meanwhile call another strike for 4 December and, to top it all off, the CGIL calls one for 20 November.
For the umpteenth time all this will create division and confusion in the working class!
We must refuse to be mere objects of employers’ exploitation; we must develop the awareness that we belong to a class whose interests — immediate and historical — are opposed to those of the bosses, of the bourgeoisie, that is, of those who exploit and oppress us!
We must scrap this social and economic system that produces only poverty, wars, and environmental catastrophes, just to prolong its existence founded on our exploitation.
We must turn our anger and justified concern into assemblies/committees of self-organized workers, to begin breaking the blanket of resignation and to stimulate and organize other workers toward class protagonism.
YES TO A STRIKE, BUT TO THE BITTER END, INVOLVING ALL WORKERS (THE PROLETARIAT), WITH NO TIME LIMIT!
We stress and support that the program of the revolutionary conquest of communism must circulate once again within the class, and that party-building work must be strengthened — the only real instruments for organising the proletariat to oppose and overthrow the capitalist system!
FOR THE PROLETARIANS OF ALL COUNTRIES, THE TIME HAS COME TO UNITE!
